Livermore High School Music Program Launches Support the SoundGive to LHS Music with Matching Gift Opportunity

Livermore, CA – September 01, 2025 – Livermore Music, the nonprofit parent booster organization that supports Livermore High School Music Department, is excited to announce the launch of Support the Sound: Give to LHS Music, aiming to raise $50,000 before the end of September to support the school’s award-winning music program.

Supporting Livermore Music in their fundraising efforts is the Community Health & Education Foundation (CHEF), a local Livermore-based nonprofit. For every $2 raised, CHEF will contribute $1, with the potential to secure up to $75,000 in vital financial support for the LHS music program. In addition, CHEF will cover all administrative and processing fees of each donation, ensuring that 100% of every dollar directly benefits music education for all students.

Livermore Music is optimistic that this year’s fundraising drive will significantly fulfill its annual budget. While families are encouraged to contribute $400 to $500 per student, Livermore Music understands that not every household can meet this request.

“That’s why we’re reaching out to the entire community to rally support for our campaign,” said Michael Azevedo, President of Livermore Music. “Every donation helps ensure that all our students continue to receive the quality music education they deserve.”

He continued, “This is our one major fundraising effort for the year. With the help of CHEF and the potential to secure an additional $25,000 from CHEF, we’re confident in what we can achieve together. Every contribution, no matter how small, is vital to sustaining the high standards of our program.”

The LHS Music Department has a proud legacy of excellence. The LHS Chamber Orchestra Ensemble will perform at the National Orchestra Festival Championships this coming spring, placing among the top 12 orchestra ensembles in the nation. LHS’ Band, Percussion, Jazz, and Orchestra Ensembles routinely bring home awards from competitions statewide. The LHS Ensembles are also an integral part of our community, offering free Jazz concerts at local venues, performing for the elderly, energizing our football games, and proudly marching in the city’s holiday parade.

“These achievements are a testament to the dedication and talent of the LHS students—and to the critical support they receive from our community,” said Azevedo.

He continued, “Running a music program of this high caliber requires substantial financial resources. From purchasing sheet music and repairing instruments to hiring professional music coaches who guide our students to success, the costs add up quickly. Unfortunately, the school district provides very little funding, so we rely heavily on the generosity of parents, families, small grants, and contributions from the broader community.”

Tax-deductible donations can be made throughout the month of September on the CHEF website. Livermore Music boosters encourage all community members to contribute and help sustain the program’s tradition of excellence.  To make a donation, visit https://chefgivingcommunity.org/SupporttheSound/
